Description
Here is a rare Tea Cup, Saucer and Side Plate Souvenir Set depicting a man leading a ox drawn buckboard wagon with longleaf pine trees pictured in the background. The trio was designed and produced by the Foley China Company in England for C.L. Hayes who had a general merchandise establishment located on the main street of Southern Pines, NC in the late 1800’s. Each piece is back stamped with the 1895 Foley China hallmark. In addition to this mark the daisy shaped tea cup is also stamped with Foley’s 1888 registration number RA 115510. Each piece is also marked in black lettering with the following: "Made in England for C.L. Hayes Southern Pines N.C". The gold trim decoration on the edges of the cup, saucer and plate appear to be in excellent condition. The side plate measures 7 inches in diameter and it’s in excellent vintage condition. The scallop designed saucer is also in excellent vintage condition and measures 5 inches across. The very rare and delicate daisy shape tea cup has a hairline crack and a small flake on its exterior along the crack just above the backside of the buckboard wagon (pictured). This 3 piece town souvenir set is over 120 years old and it still maintains its vintage character and charm. Please review the pictures provided for condition.
