Description
Although I am hard pressed to determine just what the finelycut steel
brooch
is meant to represent (an arrow?, a saber?, an astrological reference?), I recognize that it dates to either the
Georgian or early Victorian era
. The shoe clips are also early in my judgement and are made of
very small cut steel beads
which I believe are most coveted. Both the brooch and the shoe clips are constructed on a metal which has a rosy tint - copper or brass? - to it (perhaps appearing as rust). Please be assured, there is
no rust on any of these objects
and that the
brooch
is a relatively sturdy little piece! It measures approximately
1 3/4" x 1 1/4"
(not including the extension of the pin beyond the body of it). The tip of the pin is slightly bent and could likely be straightened out (or ignored as it has no affect on the security of the
"C" clasp
closure). The
shoe clips
measure approximately
3 /4"
in diameter, not including the swag of beads below. All of the items retain the lively play of light they were created to produce.
