Description
A true antique. This is a mid 19th century, about 1850 - 1860, hand painted "Continental" porcelain tea up with matching hand painted saucer. The gold crown over star mark is made to look similar to the true Italian Royal Capodimonte ware from the 18th century. The mark was not trademarked and thus used by many enterprising porcelain factories throughout Europe in the 19th century.
"Continental" is a cataloging term used for items that are from Europe, generally France, Italy, Germany.
