The media has been used, but is clean and has been surface scanned with multiple passes and verified. All defects have been spared*, and discs have a minimal defect list, providing 100% usable blocks. Only the nicest disk are being offered, these are not dirty scratched up junk disks. The discs come logically unformatted and will need formatting for your OS of choice, add {{detail_product_description}}.95 per disc and specify PC or MAC if you need them formatted.
Open piece pictured for illustration, and is representative of the condition of the offered disks, some may have clean labels. Single disc with case will ship, and will either be SyQuest or a SyQuest OEM, but not Nomai or Maxell.

* SyQuest generally bought platters rejected by the hard drive manufacturers of the day, they were thoughly scanned for flaws in the magnetic coating and had the surface defects mapped placed in a permanent defect list which was written to the disk along with servo positioning information. Discs with too many flaws, or physically damaged were rejected by SyQuest, but the use of "seconds" grade media provided them with a low cost source of media. Generally most magnetic media has some flaws, these are usually handled by mapping and sparing sectors with hard flaws, and error correction to address soft ones. The process of sparing permits a read/write of a known bad portion of the disc to be redirected to another location set aside with spare sectors reserved for this specific purpose.
