    Description

Offered here is a vintage original 14x22 in. Belgian poster from the classic 1930's western
    DODGE CITY
, released in 1939 by Warner Bros. and directed by the acclaimed
    Michael Curtiz
. A Texas cattle agent (Errol Flynn) witnesses first-hand the brutal lawlessness of Dodge City and takes the job of sheriff to clean-up the town.
This poster was printed for the film's 1960's theatrical re-release
. The image features beautiful artwork (as opposed to the original US posters, which were photographic) depicting a large portrait of
    Errol Flynn
    and beautiful
    Olivia de Havilland
in the center with a great full-length image of pretty
    Ann Sheridan
in the top left. A dramatic fight scene including Flynn dominates the bottom right area. This vintage original poster has been professionally linen-backed and is in very fine+ condition. This poster will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube to prevent damage while in transit.
This is a vintage original theatrical re-release poster and not one of the later reprints/reproductions which state PRINTED IN BELGIUM in English in the bottom right corner of the borders.
    Dodge City
was the fifth of nine different films featuring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland.
Warner Bros. chartered a special sixteen-car train which transported at least thirty-six reporters to Dodge City for the film's premiere. Along the way, an unscheduled stop was made in Pasadena so that Olivia de Havilland could leave the train and report for work on
    Gone with the Wind
(1939). The studio also sent a Technicolor crew to film the premiere, which was attended by Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. and over 70,000 visitors that had come to the city to celebrate the premiere.
